Introduction

Scrapbook Pixixel is a macOS media library management application developed by Éric Fréour. Your privacy is our priority.

Data Collected

Scrapbook Pixixel does not collect any personal data:

• No identification data (name, email, address)
• No usage data or telemetry
• No cookies or trackers
• No location data
• No data shared with third parties

Locally Stored Data

The application stores the following information exclusively on your Mac (UserDefaults):

• References to added folders (security-scoped bookmarks)
• Folder display order
• Color labels assigned to files
• Custom label names
• Language preference
• Hidden subfolder paths
• Saved library profiles (.sbpixixel catalogs)
• iView transcription counter during the trial
• Extracted color palettes (SwiftData cache)
• Your metadata edits (title, keywords, description, copyright, custom fields) — stored in the local catalog, never written into your original files
• Local AI index: auto-tags, face count, sharpness score, perceptual hash, visual similarity vectors (FeaturePrint)
• SHA-256 fingerprints computed for integrity monitoring

This data never leaves your device.

Local Processing and Artificial Intelligence

Scrapbook offers several assisted processes (visual auto-tags, face detection, perceptual hash for duplicate search, visual similarity vectors, natural-language search, SHA-256 integrity check). All of these processes run locally on your Mac, via Apple's system libraries (Vision.framework, CoreImage, CryptoKit).

No image, no excerpt, no vector, no tag, no fingerprint is transmitted to a third-party server, to the publisher, to Apple, or to any remote AI service. The entire analysis takes place in your memory and on your disk.

The results (tags, scores, hashes, vectors) are stored in the application's local index and in your library's .sbpixixel catalog. You can delete them or reset the index at any time from the "AI Indexing" sheet.

People recognition computes an identity signature — biometric data — for each detected face. Like every other processing, this runs 100% on your Mac: the signatures never leave your device and are used only to group the faces of the same person. The names you assign are stored as keywords in your local catalogue (never in your original files); you can edit or delete them at any time. No biometric signature is transmitted to the developer, to Apple, or to any third party.

File Access

Scrapbook Pixixel only accesses the folders that you explicitly select via the file picker or by drag and drop. The application runs within the macOS App Sandbox.

Extracted metadata (EXIF, IPTC, GPS) is read in memory. Color palettes, AI tags, SHA-256 fingerprints and FeaturePrint vectors are cached locally (SwiftData / .sbpixixel catalog). Your original files are never modified. Renamed exports and XMP sidecars are written to separate files, in a folder of your choosing.

In-App Purchases

The application offers a single (non-consumable) purchase through Apple StoreKit. The transaction is handled by Apple. We have no access to any payment information.

Network Connections

The only network connection concerns the verification of in-app purchases through Apple's servers. No other connection. No data sent to third parties.

Children's Data

Scrapbook Pixixel does not collect any data, including that of children under 13. COPPA compliant.
